Learning Updates

Reminders: 

• Last day of swimming on Wednesday, October 23. Instructor Brian's swim group (level 4/5) needs to bring extra clothes as per instructions.
• Science Trees and Forests diagrams are due Friday, October 25

Updates: 

Social Studies: The results are in from the recent federal election. Our students results were very interesting compared to the actual results. Thank you for engaging in the process of preparing for the vote. We also had an opportunity to visit the polling station at our school on Monday where students asked questions and observed the process in action.  

Science: Students continue to build notes as we discuss and learn about the human impact on the forest and we learn more about the life of a tree in a forest. They have been working on this for several weeks and their diagrams are due Friday. Avoid late work by ensuring it is completed by the due date. We are approaching the end of the unit so students are encouraged to review and prepare for a unit test about the Trees and Forests in Alberta.

Language Arts: Students continue to work on understanding criteria for paragraphs to understand the organization of ideas into a topic sentence, supporting details, elaborating details and a closing sentence. They will continue to review the functional writing for a newspaper article for their recent Outdoor School.
