Learning Updates

Important Dates

  • November 1-Non-Instructional Day (No School)
  • November 8- Remembrance Day Assembly (morning)

Science: students are completing their diagrams with explanations, key words and visuals to understand and explain numerous concepts related to Alberta Trees and Forests. We have viewed videos of how trees are harvested and ways humans can help keep this resource sustainable. Many students have to complete their previous diagrams from the past month to compile into small resource to help them study for their upcoming unit test.

Social Studies: Students are learning to locate information using texts and text features to understand the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. They are reading non-fiction texts and determining important information to organize into their visual journal charts. They need to identify key vocabulary, find important dates related to the topic to put on a timeline as well as determine the rights and freedoms we have in this country.

Language Arts: Students are working to challenge themselves in their reading to include books from a variety of genres. They can read both at home and at school to complete their challenge. This is recorded in their chart in the green duotang. It is also where they will record their reading responses to a question/prompt that they can answer from what they read at school.  They are developing their vocabulary and spelling patterns through the Boggle word work challenge. Congrats to M for solving the 9 letter word and to H for coming up with 41 words on his list.
