Learning Updates
Thank you to everyone who came to the learning conferences last week.
Reminders:
- December Scholastic Book Orders are due Tuesday, December 3
- Students have a French assignment due Tuesday, December 3 to record themselves with a script they have prepared in class/homework (if not completed in class). Look on the French page for more information about the assignment.
- Students can bring in their own headphones to use with the computers. Please ensure they are labelled and in a ziplock back with their name on it.
- Cold weather is here so please ensure students are dressed for the cold and the snow. Jackets, headwear, boots, and mitts/gloves are necessary to keep students warm during their recesses.
- Swimming certificates from the fall lessons were given to students on Tuesday.
- Picture orders placed from the first round of student photos were sent with students on Monday.
Language Arts: Students are continuing with their weekly skills practice with reading, writing a response to their reading and word building. Our "new" members of the class will be starting this week so please do not hesitate to send me an email (anmoore@cbe.ab.ca) if you have questions to clarify this work. A minimum of ONE reading response is required each week. A good question to ask your child, "Where are you with your 40 book reading challenge?"
Language Arts NOVEL Study: Students are starting a novel by Kit Pearson, The Sky is Falling. We will work together to develop and understand descriptive language and story elements from the novel. Students' work will be documented in their visual journals.
Science: Students have been introduced to the steps required in a Scientific Method write up (a specific set up for a science experiment). This week they will work in their learning groups to accurately measure, set up, and execute a variety of experiments to observe and record their results to determine a conclusion.
