Learning Updates
What a difference in temperatures! Don't forget that we are still in our winter months and it is important for students to be dressed for the weather, as we all know that it can quickly change.
Reminders:
Reminders:
- Still need to have report card envelopes returned ASAP (AA, XC, AD, RH and JL)
- Students have their novel study work is due on Monday, February 3. This includes visual journal work AND their extension project. They have been working on this since December and many are close to completing, many will need to be taking it home each night to ensure completion by the due date.
- Literacy Week celebration next week, please read because there is a different activity planned for each day:
All Week Activities: Special guest to read to classes, D.E.A.R. time (Drop everything and read, students and staff should be carrying a book all day, every day, you never know when it will happen!).
Monday- Read my Shirt Day! (Please wear a shirt with writing on it, or a shirt connected to literacy in some way)
Tuesday- Teachers will be a guest reader in another classroom
Wednesday- Book Mark Making
Thursday- Dress as your Favourite Character! The whole school Literacy Week Assembly!
ELA: students are finishing up their novel study work and moving into combining this understanding with Social Studies as part of our work with our guest artist, Kris Demeanor. Students will also work on organizing their narrative writing to write a story by using story planning graphic organizers.
Science: The unit test was on Tuesday. Again, the test is one of many pieces of evidence of student learning. Their engagement in discussions and activities would also demonstrate many of the outcomes for this unit. An update will be sent when the marks will be released and we have reviewed it as a class. Hopefully all the bugs have been worked out to improve the sharing process with you.
Social Studies: Students are integrating ELA with Social Studies to develop our exhibition work. Please check the Social Studies subject page regarding the homework that is due on WEDNESDAY, January 22!
