Online Learning Update for the Week of April 6-9
The first week of our online learning reality is almost complete.
Parents, thank you so much for your patience and your support of your child's
learning as we transition into using Google Classroom. If
you still require support, check the Technical
Support Page for Students and Parents. Be kind, as we are all in new territory here.
I have truly enjoyed all of my virtual
sessions in Google Meet with my students this week. The final one of the week will
be Thursday at 12:30-1:15. Information to join is posted in the Google
Classroom STREAM. Students did a survey question for their preference for MEET
times so I will do my best to set a schedule for our class to come together in
our virtual meeting.
This initial week was about introducing students to
the applications they will be using and completing assignments with: Google
Docs, Slides, Questions, and of course Meet. It also provided me with an
understanding of our next steps as I am aware of certain family constraints and
realities while students are doing remote learning all in one household.
I am trying to get all students doing some of the activities that we were
doing before but just in a new way now. There were many requests to continue our weekly Boggle challenge, so I will endeavor to re-imagine it digitally!
If you have questions, please do not hesitate to
email me and I will do my best to respond in a reasonable time. If you would
like me to call you, please provide the phone number you wish for me to contact
you as well as times you are available. Phone calls will display as either CBE
or from a PRIVATE number.
Again, THANK YOU SO, SO
MUCH for your support at home.
Reminders:
- Friday, April 10 is Good Friday and Monday, April 13 is a Non-Instruction Day so there will be no postings for new assignments on those days. This means next week's work will be posted on Tuesday, April 14.
- Every week, Language Arts and Math assignments are posted at the start of the week and they are due by the following Monday at 9:00 am. Students are encouraged to work through each assignment and submit them as they finish them throughout the week. Otherwise the work will continue to add up as incomplete. Work can not be marked or reviewed if assignments are not submitted by the student in Google Classroom. Please review the Google Classroom Student Guide to start and submit assignments. This week, submissions of work has been the most emailed query. That, and log in information. Students can send a private message to me right from the assignment. Students may need to resubmit assignments if their work does not meet the criteria and expectations.
