It's BEACH theme week!
Dress up for your Google Meets!

As we move in to the work online now that the initial changes and rush have worn off, we must continue to be kind and patient with ourselves and others. Setting up a routine that works for student and family/household needs is important. Talking and sharing feelings and emotions allows for everyone to have a role in the problem solving. If more support is needed, please make sure you connect with others to get the help or guidance you may need at this time.

It was a different May long weekend and it sounds like there may be a bounty of vegetables this fall and lots of fit people who really know their way around their communities with all of the walks and bike rides people are taking to enjoy the spring. These are all great ways to decompress and stay active both physically and psychologically.

Posted assignments continue to be focused on Language Arts and Math. Topic students are moving into for Language Arts is Poetry now that they have been learning and writing different types of figurative language. They have a task that they have been working on and it will be due on Monday, May 25. Going forward next week, they will have a project to write their own poems with a variety of assessments in between to look at student reading comprehension with poetry. Students are encouraged to go back and use the figurative language from previous assignments to incorporate into their own writing. Reading comprehension continues on with Currents4Kids with an assigned article to help them complete TWO quizzes AND a reading response from a choice of prompts. Boggle continues each week for students to break down words from 9 letters to figure out the word for the week. Students are to use references to check and ensure the words they are creating are words that can be used in writing and speaking. There are challenges set up to gain 100 points. This past week, a student was able to go beyond 4 categories with the words he created from the 9 letters!

Math assignments are posted in the math group they are enrolled in so students need to be following the streams and classwork on both areas. If you continue to have difficulty, please reach out to the teachers.

This week, students have a chance to make a short video (2 min maximum) to show and talk about something they have made recently, the inspiration behind it, the materials used, plans for the finished project, etc. This is an assignment posted in the Google Classroom. The videos will be shared during upcoming classroom MEETS.

Again, we hope everyone is well and staying healthy. Please do not hesitate to email me at anmoore@cbe.ab.ca regarding inquires and we can set up a time to "meet" if necessary.
