The Final Post for 2019-20

This academic school year had many challenges for our staff and students which continued to increase with the pandemic. We managed to work through the chaos and uncertainty with calmness and a smile on our faces. Students were asked to challenge themselves to be better with each passing day to develop lifelong skills such as kindness, empathy, perseverance, and being good citizens in person and in the digital world, while achieving academic success and improvement.

To my grade 6 students and families, thank you for your support and connections to collectively guide our lovely, bright, and helpful young citizens to their new adventures. You helped me along the way with your willingness to meet, work  out situations, making time to come and see your child's work and presentations. I will miss seeing all of their smiling faces, fun random conversations about our lives, interests, and sports. I will miss watching their creative minds at work. I will miss not having them in my class after seeing them for the past two years, even if I wasn't their homeroom teacher the whole time. I will miss the connections with the families and I hope you will keep in touch.

To my grade 5 students, many of you are returning to CHS but there is nothing finalized for September that I can update or report on so you will have to be patient with more specific information closer to the start of September. There will be updated recommendations from the province and the Calgary Board of Education for a safe and healthy return to the school in the fall.

Thank you for your phone calls, your emails, your cards, artwork, and gifts. They were thoughtful and appreciated.

To all those students leaving CHS, best wishes in your new schools. May you be good leaders, stewards, and friends in your new places and beyond. The world needs more good things to happen.

I wish everyone a wonderful summer break filled with activities, laughter, books, and people you love. Enjoy the new experiences and appreciate the world around you whether it is in your own home, neighbourhood, and if safe, beyond our borders. There are lots of great adventures waiting for you!

Happy summer!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Moore
