An Interesting Start to October
Well, we started this month with many students away for varying reasons. It is important that all students and family review the protocols for daily health checks. Please call in your absences and leave a message for the office.
I will do my best to post what I can for those students who are away so they can "see" what we are doing and perhaps attempt some of the assignments on Google Classroom.
The municipal election is underway, so this is perfect for our students as it is a topic in our Social Studies curriculum. We will be covering the roles of two levels of government: provincial and municipal during this year. We are currently researching the many candidates for mayor, councillor, and public school trustee to give a presentation to learn about them. We want to make sure we are informed before we head to our own poll at school on Monday, October 18 too!
We are approaching the final part of our Trees and Forests unit, so there is a Tree Photobook project for students to complete before we prepare for a unit test before the end of this month. Review the information posted in the Google Classroom. Students will practice taking focused pictures of different parts of trees to use in identifying the type of tree. They will do this for a minimum of FOUR trees/shrubs.
Just another reminder about changing conditions weatherwise. Please ensure students are coming to school with layers for the cold mornings. We have recess and our physical education classes in the mornings so they need to be prepared!
Reminders:
- NO School on Friday, October 8
- Thanksgiving Day (NO School) on Monday, October 11
