An Different Kind of Interruption

Thank you to parents and families for being flexible due to the water issues Capitol Hill encountered overnight that required the cancellation of classes today. Ms. Wright has been given approval to have students and staff return on Wednesday! We have lots to do for our upcoming Winter Celebration for the whole school!

Remember to:

  • Volunteer for Friday, December 10 by emailing Mrs. Moore (anmoore@cbe.ab.ca)
  • Bring in boxes of cereal to donate to the Calgary Food Bank for the annual Mayor's Food Drive
  • Money to donate to the various buskers on Friday morning.
  • Dress in layers for Friday since we will be outside for a large portion of our day.
  • Bottle Drive to support Kidsport is happening on Friday too! Bring your empties in the morning to donate and help a great cause.

Students are working on division strategies while still incorporating the steps of estimation AND double checking their calculations. Before the break, all students will be given a quiz to determine their areas that require more practice in regards to the four operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

In Language Arts we have been doing quite a bit. There is an ongoing novel study to develop skills in connecting, questioning, predicting, synthesizing, visualizing, and summarizing.  With each skills, students are asked to use an example from the text to support their thinking as we discuss as a class and individually record the events of the story in the visual journal. Students are also writing and proofreading their writing while also developing their keyboarding skills each week.

Again, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
