End of January Updates

 

Some updates for the week:

Ms. Fetherstonhaugh will be doing a bulk of the preparation and teaching as she builds up for her practicum work and responsibilities. As the mentor teacher, I continue to be a part of her planning and teaching for many of these subjects.

-Social Studies test from last week have been marked. Students and I will go over them soon with the marks being released from their Google Classroom. If you require the mark by email, please let me know.

-Science: Students are learning about conductors, insulators, resistors, as well as building a variety of circuits. The students are chomping at the bit to build, so there will be a few new projects being worked on in the coming weeks and they will have lots to show and explain to you for the March conferences.

-Math: Students are working on identifying the characteristics of quadrilateral shapes, parallel, intersecting, and perpendicular lines, perimeter, area, units of linear measurement (mm, cm, m), as well as the introduction to motion geometry with slides/translations, turns/rotations, and flips/reflections.

-Literacy Week: please bring in a loonie to donate

-Grade 5 and 6 Celebration of Learning will be from 3:30-5:30 on Wednesday, February 15. More information to come by email and updates on this blog.

-Grade 5 Skiing Days require parent volunteers for supervision when they are not skiing with their instructors. If you are available on these days, please let me know as soon as possbile!
