The grade 5s are getting excited to get on the hill and the weather looks delightful (hopefully, I didn't just jinx the forecast!!!). We are still in need of a few more volunteers on March 22 and 23.

Students should bring the following each day: 

Mandatory: winter jacket, snow pants, toque/hat, winter gloves, bottled water, snacks, and a lunch (purchasing lunch is NOT an option with limited time for a lunch break).  Please do not bring valuables as we will not be responsible for any lost or damaged items.

Optional: personal equipment such as snowboard with boots, skis with boots, goggles, helmet, ski poles, wrist guards and sunscreen. (personal skis/snowboard must include boots).

Our departure times for each day is as follows:

Mrs. Moore's Reflection from the day: The students were amazing for their first bus field trip in a very long time. Many started the day a bit scared and nervous but they ended it with lots of sweat and smiles. The beginning of the day was overwhelming. We were in a new environment with four or five other schools sharing the daylodge with us, so there were lots of students and adults everywhere! A huge thank you to the volunteers to get everyone ready on their first day to meet their amazing instructors. Everyone chipped in by putting on the boots, getting the gear on, putting away their belongings, and giving reminders to keep track of their belongings throughout the day was a huge undertaking. I had a to do quite a few more roll calls throughout the day to ensure no one was left behind at any point of our day, but it was so worth it to see their delighted faces. The sun was shining and the hill was in great condition. Make sure to check in with your child and ask them their thoughts on their exciting day at Winsport.

Mrs. Moore's Reflection from the day: Wow! Another beautiful day on the hills of Winsport. The students know the routines and are excited to see their instructors and get back on the hill to learn more. We are so fortunate the weather has been cooperative and warm. Students must have items of clothing to cover their arms so layering with light, long sleeves would work well for the final two warm days. The students are really picking up the skills for skiing or snowboarding. They should be so proud of all of their hardwork and effort to get back up each time they fall down. A reminder to review with your child is the three pillars of care we have even as we represent our school at other sites for learning.

Mrs. Moore's Reflection from the day: Today I am so grateful for the weather and all of the amazing volunteers who came to help get our students ready for another day of lessons. Everyone is still smiling and they have really challenged themselves at their ski/snowboard levels. Lunch time is a busy time in the day lodge as everyone wants to share something about their instructor, a funny event, or their progress with us. Thank you parents who are helping to make sure the students come to school with all the things they need to have a great day at Winsport with lunches, snacks, water, and all of their various gear for the hill. Also, a huge thank you to our photographer extraordinaire, Susan for going out and grabbing some amazing photos of the kids in action!
