March Updates

Now we are into March and really hoping for some warmer weather soon, but until then, double check the weather and ensure your child is dressed for the weather conditions and changes for the days ahead.

  • CHS is looking forward to having our student led conferences on Thursday, March 9 from 4:00-8:00. Conference booking will still be done through your MyCBE Account, and will open on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 10:00am. The only difference you will notice is the blocked times which will be:

4:00 – 5:00pm, 5:00 – 6:00pm, 6:00 – 7:00pm, and 7:00 – 8:00pm

If you require an alternate time to meet, please send me an email and we can arrange a date and time for the following week.

  • Non Instructional Day on Friday, March 10, so there will NOT be school this coming Friday.
  • We are still in need of ONE MORE parent volunteer for each of the following days on our upcoming field trips to Winsport. IF you are able to join our grade 5s on Tuesday, March 21, Wednesday, March 22 or Thursday, March 23, please contact Mrs. Moore as soon as possible.  Thank you to the parents of KC, IM, CS, KK, and JW for volunteering already!
  • Science Unit Test for Electricity, Magnetism, and Mechanisms will be on Wednesday, March 15. Please check the Google Classroom for study notes, videos to review and practice before the test.
  • Also in SCIENCE, students are also developing the mechanisms by combining their circuit knowledge and incorporating switches to close circuits for their building project. This project is due Wednesday after 2 weeks of in class work time to build their project.
  • In ELA/SOCIAL STUDIES, students are doing a novel study with Ms. Fetherstonhaugh, "The Barren Grounds."  There are lots of great ideas and rich language opportunities from this novel, so make sure to ask you child about the story so far.
  • In MATH, students are planning a "blueprint" for a zoo. They researched the size of animals they wanted included in their zoo, using their understanding of area and perimeter, they needed to ensure their enclosures would fit their chosen animals.
  • For PHYSICAL EDUCATION, students are working through simple movements of gymnastics to keep their body in motion using mats and balances.
Again, if you have any questions about any of this, please do not hesitate to contact me by email at anmoore@cbe.ab.ca

The school website is another great resource for whole school information. Make sure to bookmark both for fast access to information about Room 2 and our school.
