Mid April Acknowledgements

This past week, we were super busy with all things "Seussical the Musical."  Thank you to everyone for their enthusiasm and commitment to the many rehearsals, preview, and final shows for our audiences. It was definitely a whirlwind for the past few weeks putting on the final touches for the show.

Students in grades 4-5 will be competing in the annual Mount Royal University Math Contest on April 26. It is hosted by the Mathematics Department at MRU and is open to all schools in the Calgary area. It is not a test, but a fun was to interact with math outside of the classroom outcomes. Students scores will be revealed in mid-May.  Go to the MRU math contest blog for past contests to see the different types of questions used previously and the format for the 20 question contest.

Many students in grade 5 signed up to have an opportunity to work with their grade 6 peers to learn the ropes of being the voice of the morning announcements or being a lunch time secretary in the office. Make sure they check their schedules to do their new jobs!

In the midst of all of this, our Mount Royal University Teacher Candidates were preparing for their final weeks of their practicum to complete their degrees. We wish all of them, especially, Ms. Fetherstonhaugh for their dedication and willingness to always learn about the many parts of their future profession over the past four months.

Here is a parting message from Ms. Fetherstonhaugh:

Hello, Parents of Room 2,

Meeting so many of you and teaching your wonderful kids was an absolute pleasure. Thank you all for your support and kind words over my time in Room 2. I loved connecting with you all during all our events and field trips these past few months. I could not have asked for a better class to teach for my final practicum. Your kids are exceptional and are so lucky to have you and Mrs. Moore supporting them in their learning journey.
I wish you all the best, and thank you for supporting my learning journey to becoming a teacher.
Ms. Fetherstonhaugh
