Jumping for June!
Well that was nine months! Time really is moving too fast and soon your people will be in Grade 6, the new leaders and mentors of the little people. Until then, they are still in grade 5 with some more grade 5 stuff to do.
Thank you again to our wonderful parent volunteers who were celebrated during last week's Volunteer Tea. We will have a couple of community walks before we end the year so make sure to check your emails often with dates and times so you can join us!
Curriculum:
ELA/Social Studies: story writing including facts and people from Canadian history. The project is due Monday, June 26 and will be a presentation of stories decided on by the student group of 4 working together on this project. Students who will be away that day must inform their group members and me to coordinate a different day/time to present.
Math: working on probability and statistics by using spinners, dice, and playing cards. Determining fair games have been great to experiment with. Students in Mrs. Moore's math group will be doing a yearend assessment looking at all the grade 5 concepts, so make sure to review!
Science: Our final unit, Alberta Wetlands, is upon us. Students will be looking at a variety of bogs, fens, and ponds with all the living organisms in that ecosystem. Food chains and webs, protection, and understanding human impacts on this environment is part of the learning for this unit.
Wellness: Students will be learning about puberty and the human reproductive system. Please review the information on the email sent to parents last week. PE is working on throwing and catching frisbees while incorporating it into Ultimate Frisbee.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need more information,
Mrs. Moore
