Getting Ready for Outdoor School

We are just over a month away from heading out to Kananaskis to learn about the area, be with nature, and learn responsibilities outside of our classroom and home! The above picture is the inside of the lodge where we gather each night for our campfire and throughout the day for many learning activities. It is truly one of my most memorable events in teaching with the number of students I have taken to the YMCA Camp Chief Hector over the years!

Here is a list of things to start gathering for our multi-day and night trip in April. Students MUST be able to lift and carry their own bags.

I must insist that there are NO CAMERAS. I will have cameras from the school to ensure students who do not have parental/guardian consent to have their pictures taken are not in photos. I will be uploading photos from the trip for students to complete a keepsake project when we return to CHS. So, don't worry, not only will you hear all about the week when your Grade 5 student returns home but you will have something to see too!
